The Story of Learn Indonesian Bahasa 

“Every Journey Begins with a Connection”

Learn Indonesian Bahasa was born from countless meaningful encounters with learners from around the world.

Each learner came with a unique story. Some came because of family, work, research, business, faith, culture, or simply because they had fallen in love with Indonesia. Yet behind every story, they all shared the same desire to understand Indonesia beyond its language.

Through years of teaching, we discovered that our learners were not only seeking Indonesian vocabulary or grammar. They wanted to understand how Indonesians live, build families, create communities, celebrate traditions, practice their values, and connect with one another.

At the same time, we witnessed something equally meaningful.

Indonesians also grew through these encounters. Every conversation, friendship, and shared experience expanded perspectives, nurtured mutual respect, and created opportunities for learning on both sides.

These experiences led us to a simple yet profound belief:

Indonesia has the power to bring people together.

Its language, culture, values, and communities create opportunities for meaningful human connections that transcend nationality, language, and cultural backgrounds.

From this belief, Learn Indonesian Bahasa was established.

Not simply as an Indonesian language school, but as a home where Indonesia and the world meet, learn together, grow together, and build lasting human connections.

Established on 2 September 2021, Learn Indonesian Bahasa is now run under the legal entity of Belajar Indonesia Lingua Company. Our mission is to prepare every learner to become a confident and capable communicator, ready to engage with Indonesian society, whether for work, travel or personal enrichment.

The platform was founded by Al Afif Muzakir, an experienced linguist and educator. He began as an Indonesian language ambassador at Duolingo, where he taught over 8,137 learners in 883 sessions, receiving top ratings for his teaching. High Recommended tutor at Preply.com. Though his academic background began in Economics, his deep passion for language led him to earn a second degree in Indonesian Language and Literature.
